Run Report - Dorr Continues to Develop Race Program
-
Rockford, IL (June 25, 2011) - Mitch Dorr arrived at the “Big
House” looking to gain valuable experience as the team continues
its season in the TORC PRO-Light ranks. The fast layout of the
1.75 mile Crandon track is vastly different than the tight and
twisty layout the team experience at Red Bud MX. The opening
weekend was a fight for survival on the tight and muddy track;
Crandon is all about speed, long straightaways and high banked
corners.
-
The Friday afternoon practice and qualifying sessions allowed the
team to make changes on the chassis setup as well get more time
behind the wheel for Mitch. With sixteen trucks in the PRO-Light
starting grid, a well handling truck is a key when it comes to
making it to the finish at Crandon.

Saturday – Round Three
The land rush start had the #17 Goodyear Tire Auto Trans Design
Ford Ranger starting in the middle of the second row. When the
green flag was waved, the field of PRO-Light trucks made a mad
dash for Potawatomi Turn One. The disaster struck as several
trucks tangled and blocked the track, immediately TORC officials
waved the red flag and called for a restart. Somehow all but one
truck was able to make it back to the start line.
-

The restart saw much calmer heads prevail as everyone had it
through the first turn without any serious contact. As the eight
lap race unfolded, Mitch was in a pack ok first year racers, that
saw positions change lap after lap. At the checkered flag, Mitch
Dorr crossed the finish line in ninth place.
“We have some work to do on the chassis setup,” noted Mitch Dorr.
“Of course I need more seat time as well. This season is
definitely a developmental year; our goal is improve throughout
the season, and hopefully contend for a podium by season’s end.”
-
Sunday – Round Four
Rain, rain, and more rain….The front straightaway was underwater
as well as much of the Skybox straightaway. TORC officials
cancelled Round 4. The round of racing will be rescheduled at a
later date.
The next race for Mitch Dorr and his team is July 22-23 at The
Dirt Track @ Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC.
-
Mitch would like to thank all Goodyear Tires and Auto Trans Design
